How To Care For Your Lingerie

We've all been there ladies, we've all thrown our favourite lingerie in the wash and experienced that sunken feeling when it comes out looking a little worse for wear. The thing is, lingerie isn't supposed to last for years, but we can make it last longer and how you care for your lingerie plays a huge role. The better you take care of your lingerie, the longer it will last. On average lingerie lasts around 6-8months, but with our help, you can expand that lifespan! If you want to know how to make your everyday or special occasion lingerie last much longer, or even make it through the wash, then you're in the right place!

How Often Should You Wash Your Bra?

We recommend washing your bra after 2-3 wears, or once every 1 or 2 weeks if you’re not wearing it every day. This will allow your bra in top condition for longer as over-washing can damage elasticity.

An exception to this is if you’re wearing your bra whilst exercising, or during the hotter seasons. Due to sweating, you may need to change your bra more frequently. Not only does sweat break down the elastic in the bra, it also opens your skin to rashes and spots.

How To Use A Lingerie Bag

Lingerie can be really delicate, especially our Appliqué range, so we recommend washing your lingerie in a laundry bag. To use a laundry bag, simply place your lingerie in the bag, zip up and place in the washing machine.

How To Store Your Lingerie

How you fold your underwear affects its lifespan. Non-moulded bras can easily be folded in half and stored in your drawer. Do not fold bras with moulded cups to tuck one cup inside the other. When you invert the cups, you break down the shaping and shorten the life of your bra. Fasten the clasps on all of your bras. This protects the clasps from damage and prevents snagging delicate lace on the hooks.

Teddies and babydolls should be hung on padded hangers made just for this purpose, this avoids creasing.

Another extra little storage tip is to place small linen bags of lavender in your lingerie drawer to keep your favourite underwear smelling gorgeous!
